Four faces off one bed.

Finish changes colour depth, slip resistance, calibration tolerance and cost far more than the block a piece came from. All finishing is carried out at our own yard, so a mixed-finish order ships as one consignment.

Riven

Natural cleft face, left as the bed splits. Highest surface relief and the strongest wet grip.

Thickness tolerance: ±3 mm

Honed

Calibrated and ground to a flat matte face. The standard specification for external paving.

Specify for: The standard external and commercial internal floor

Brushed

Diamond-brushed after honing. Softens the arris and lifts a fine directional grain.

Relative cost: Base plus 20 percent
Specify for: Pool edges, wet rooms, floors that should read worn

Polished

Progressive grit sequence to a close reflective face. Interior use only.

Relative cost: Base plus 34 percent
Specify for: Interior floors, cladding, counters. Not for external use

Colour and finish together

Polishing gains the most on the darker beds.

On Shahabad Maroon the difference between honed and polished is not a sheen, it is a colour change. The comparator here runs the same piece through both, plus the brushed face used on treads.
