Thin limestone breaks in transit for predictable reasons: tiles packed flat, unsupported overhangs, and crates that shift against each other in a partly filled container.
Everything leaves our yard on edge, never flat. Faces are separated with 2 mm closed-cell foam, corners take EPS blocks, and each stack is strapped in two directions with 19 mm steel banding.
Crates are heat-treated timber with ISPM 15 marking, built to 1180 × 820 mm so twelve of them fill a 20 ft container floor with no dunnage gaps. A full 20 ft leaves at around 19.4 tonnes gross on 25 mm Grey.
Every crate carries a stencilled crate number, stone name, finish, format and net area, and the packing list is emailed with the bill of lading rather than travelling only in the container.
Reported breakage across our domestic Indian shipments over the last three years runs at 1.2 percent, and we credit against photographs rather than requiring the crate to be returned.
