The horizon we work at Miriyan runs a little over four metres of workable limestone in flat, regular beds. Sheets come out large and thin, which is why Shahabad has been used as a floor across India for generations with minimal processing.
Working our own face changes what a buyer gets. Tone is selected at the bench, before cutting, and blocks for a single order are drawn from the same run. On a repeat order for a phased project we can hold material back rather than pull from whatever is on the yard that week.
It also changes the arithmetic. A trading house between the quarry and the port takes a margin and adds a handling step, and every handling step on thin stone produces breakages. Loading directly from our own yard removes both.
Current extraction runs at roughly 3,200 m² of workable sheet a week across the four colours, with Maroon the constraint at around 300 m² of that total.
